The brand Hublot is a very new company to have lived two lives. The first watch was designed by Carlo Crocco in 1977 and the company launched in 1980. This sporty and elegant design became a trend setter and moderate success.

The impetus of the success was diminishing through the nineties and with a stroke of inspired clarity and foresight Crocco turned to the Pied Piper of branding and marketing of watches…Jean Claude Biver to relaunch the brand and to provide direction. Biver joined Hublot in 2004. Biver delivered more than anyone ever could have imagined. With the launch of the “Big Bang” Biver once again waved a magic wand and forever changed the future of Hublot, sport watches and the way people view brands, products and the changing styles of  design and popularity.

The expansion of Hublot and the subsequent explosive change in fortune of everyone and everything associated with the phenomenal success of the Big Bang are amongst the singular events of the last 30 years in the watch industry. The stamp of ultimate approval was achieved with the acquisition of Hublot by LVMH (Louis Vuitton, Moet & Hennessy) in summer 2008. The prices of Big Bang are frequently at or near suggested levels and some very limited models have been selling at a premium, it remains to be seen if there is any future appreciation. In my mind the future is entirely tied to how long Jean Claude Biver remains involved and the motive force behind the company.

Pricing on Big Bang models are fluid and subject to discounts of 20% off except very limited models.
